Freak-Shoe Friday: A Silk Tease

Ugly silk platform from Acne at ShopBop

Oh dear. Now I could go on a redundancy rant here & mock this pump‘s form, giggle at the bulky platform & ridicule the blockiness of the color blocking, but we can see this all for ourselves, now can't we? Maybe this particular design would be less offensive if they didn't use my most disliked fabric: grainy shantung silk. Yet on the whole, with this week's edition of Freak-Shoe Friday, I believe it is the upper's cut that ruins the whole look of these shoes, as the colors are rather fun & on trend (but on this design look rather pukey. Yes, you read right. I said “pukey”).

If the heels & “neck” of the shoe were shaped in a sexier, more Charlotte Olympia manner, this could have been a winner. Well, minus the fabric of course!

But all you fans of a sexless Marni-style shoe, get your own “Alice” Acne design from Shopbop.com for non-wallet friendly the sum of $542.80 CA/ $530.00 US.

That is all.

Totally agree with you - the cut of the upper needs to be sexier. I think that could save this shoe.

However, with that said, these aren't quite as bad as most of the Freak-Shoe Friday shoes. I'd still chose to wear these over all of the other ones you've posted!!

I figured I'd give your eyes a bit of a lesser stabbing of "ugly" this time around! Wouldn't want to completely ruin your Friday, now would I :P

... There is something I like about this... My biggest gripe is the last, cut of the throat and of course the raw silk is yucky !!

It had so much potential, which is the saddest part :(
