Bohemian Beauties & Fabulous Booties – Line Knitwear, Fall 2011
Apr 3rd
As usual, Line Knitwear‘s collection didn’t disappoint this year at Toronto Fashion Week. Line’s Fall 2011 take on bohemian chic for winter encompasses rich layers of chunky & open knits with a crochet-like feel, along with bursts of fur. Joining their neutral, grey palette are shades of rust & mustard, intense aubergine & a powdery grey/violet. All in all, a tight, cohesive blend of harmonious looks, completed by well chosen thick heeled, two-tone, patent/matte ankle & knee boots. Dare I say, it makes me want to re-start the winter season all over again. And being from Canada, that’s saying a lot!

Leopard Print Accessories, Wedges & Lace – Duy, Fall 2011
Apr 3rd
Here are the pics from the Duy Fall 2011 runway show in Toronto on Wednesday. A little late, but better than never! The leopard print two-tone shoes, boots, wedges & accessories are definitely worth waiting for! The show was so full of interesting textures, knits & detailing that it was difficult for me not to jump up & strip the models of their clothing. The ribbon & magenta-tinged leopard print stockings were a great touch. Definitely one of my favourites from Toronto Fashion Week!

Studded Boots, Bursts of Color & Nudity at Amanda Lew Kee, Fall 2011
Apr 3rd
Edgy & always surprising, Amanda Lew Kee‘s Fall 2011 runway show was a definite crowd-pleaser (let’s hope that the buyers were equally impressed!). And how can you not love those Sam Edelman platform wedge studded black leather boots? Without a doubt a collection for the strong, empowered & self-assured woman who isn’t shy about causing a stir. Miles away from the usual status-quo “safe” Toronto collection, I can’t help but fall in love yet again with Lew Kee’s fabulous mix of surprising fabrics, embellishments & contrasting tailored vs. draped looks. And did you notice how fierce-looking the models nails are?! Those are thanks to celeb favourite Minx Nails.
I overheard one observer comment that she didn’t like the ‘tin-foil’ effect of the metallic fabric overlays, but I say bring on the foil! I mean c’mon, for a few seasons now, collections have been veering towards a new, non 60s-centered futuristic aesthetic & if you’re not used to it by now, you’re too conservative to be working in this industry. With the likes of Lady Gaga & other personas consistently pushing the boundaries of what is and is not “normal” attire, we were bound to eventually get a taste of it in Toronto as well. And to this I breathe a sigh of relief.
