Whose Blue Satin Shoes would you choose? Manolo vs Vivier
Mar 4th
I was about to cast this post in a “Copycat or Coincidence” category, but then backed out at the last minute. These are obviously two distinctly different shoes: the shapes are original to both, as are the upper construction, heel form & shoe type.
But then I ask: why would Roger Vivier’s team design a Spring 2012 royal blue satin heel with a square diamante buckle, when Manolo Blahnik‘s iconic version (of Sex & the City fame nonetheless!) is still in production? I really don’t have the answer to this. It’s as if the people at Vivier asked their designers to create a shoe “like” Manolo‘s, but to “change it enough” to become somewhat original to their brand.
Copycat or not, I think that Vivier‘s design, even though reminiscent of the Blahnik stiletto, is an amazing update to the latter & possibly “original”.
Thoughts?!

Red Wedge for Less! Christian Louboutin vs. Kate & Mel
Dec 17th
Yes, I’ve been a little taken over by red-hot holiday heels these days & I’m not at all sorry about it; I just can’t seem to get enough! I’ve actually been eyeing red ankle boot wedges for a while (what’s not to love about these “Belle Zeppa”-literally beautiful wedge-from Christian Louboutin?!) and was happy to stumble upon a similar pair from Town Shoes‘ exclusive Kate & Mel brand. Which is rather exciting, considering you can get a similar look for a lot less:a $995.00 vs. $99.99 difference!
Not at all a bad find, especially since the lower-priced Town Shoes pair is actually on sale
Happy Saturday shopping!

Walter Steiger gets the Oscar Treatment from Victoria Beckham & Co.!
Oct 13th
Victoria Beckham was seen with little baby Harper at LAX, wearing sky-high Walter Steiger “Oscar” curved heel ankle boots, also spotted recently on Linsey Lohan & fashion editor Anna Dello Russo.
I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t have the guts to wear such extreme heels while carrying my 3 month old baby. But then again, I’m not obviously as coordinated as Victoria is, who I’m sure can run over hurdles in them! With the reinvented banana heel this season going strong, it’s no surprise that this black Steiger bootie is being seen on celebrities’ feet around the globe & apparently sold out online & in stores.
Like the look but don’t feel like engaging in homicidal activities to get your feet into a pair? You can try “Pisa Banana” copycat shoe for $245 US at Topshop. Although the look is similar, it’s completely missing the sleekness & flair of the original. But I’ll just put it out there for you shoe crazies die-hards out there

Caught in the Act! Paris Copies Versace’s Leopard Pumps
Oct 3rd
Versace Pumps – $795 @ NetaPorter
A couple weeks back, Paris Hilton held a press conference in Istanbul, Turkey for the launch of her footwear line Paris Hilton The Shoe Collection.
What caught my eye was the similarity of her leopard-print pony-haired pump, to Versace’s Fall 2011 leopard platform design. Which should not surprise me one bit, as not only is Versace, like, totally, up Paris Hilton’s alley (doesn’t she look a little Donatella-ish?), but her designers have been knocking-off the likes of Valentino & other greats for a while now.
I must say her behind-the-scene minions did a great job in changing the heel shape along with the size of leopard print, yet keeping the spirit & form of the shoe. In order to avoid any chance of a lawsuit, perhaps?!
