Freak Shoe Friday: Bubblegum Pink Platform Sandals

Freaky Bubblegum Pink Platform from Zooshoo

As I said in my last ugly shoes post on the runways' ugliest Fall 2015 shoes, I used to fill my blog on a quasi weekly basis with a freakish shoe that I either found 1) fascinating or 2) absolutely terrifying. I so lovingly dubbed these my “Freak Shoe Friday” shoe instalments. I was never too nice & I said exactly how I felt about a particular style. I held nothing back. My friends, both “real” & virtual alike kind of loved them. And then I unwittingly tapered them away. Things are about to change…

Backtracking a bit, I'm still not completely sure why FSF went away, although feeling compelled to post every Friday might have had something to do with it. Which is kinda too bad, because it did have a particular effect. I probably ticked off a few fellow designers & PR peeps. Actually, I know I did, by the emails I received, but as a shoe blog with a personal spin, I like to voice my opinion. And I tend to do so loudly.

Usually I'm so completely enamoured by a new product or style that I feel obliged to share it on ShoeTease. But posting an ugly shoe & venting about it is also my blogger duty. I mean, isn't the I love love love nature of fashion blogs a little tiresome? We don't LOOOVE everything, at least I surely don't. So as some might feel that posting about ugly or freaky shoes might be dousing an blog with unneeded negativity, I don't see it as such. As I am encouraged to write positively about products & shoe issues, I should also be free to voice my opinion on what I find bizarre, confounding & downright ridiculous. But in a humorous & fun way. I hope you'll get a kick out of these (almost!) weekly posts as much as I do.

Which takes me to my latest find to tack into my shoe hall of shame: these bubblegum pink platforms from Zooshoo. Brand: YRL. In my older age, I'm going to presume that this is something only the raver kids would wear? (I mean, ravers still exist, right?) or possibly to add some flair to a Robot Barbie halloween costume?! I love pink shoes, I really do, but when it comes to a sandal that looks a little like a TEVA on crack, I have no say #thanksbutnothanks.

I have a way of mentally sifting through the hideous & the trendy by visualizing whether a particular shoe, such as this Pink Panther-pink ridiculousness would jive on the concrete runways of say, Milan, London or New York. This style would definitely not. Can you imagine Anna Dello Russo strutting in these? Yeah, no.

I first spotted this pink gem on Pinterest, btw. If you want to see more weird & “wonderful” shoes, come on over to my Ugly Shoes board for ugly shoes pin-spiration 🙂

TGIF y'all.

Keep the ugly shoes coming :) I can't believe that an object that can look so amazing in the Wong hands becomes these horrors :)))

Oh man I agree so much that you should be able to say what you feel whether its negative or positive. I'm sure a bunch of bloggers are afraid to say what they feel as to not offend a company and get black balled but I trust someone more who isn't afraid to be honest.

In other news - I could definitely see those shoes as a robot barbie costume piece.

Totally. I've been blacklisted before & it won't be the last time, but that's ok. I get enough love to make up for it ;) I think we might be twins come Halloween costume time! xo Cristina

With that color and that much height, you put these on and you look like you have three kilograms of Already Been Chewed Dubble Bubble stuck to your soles. Somebody might look good in that, but nobody I know.
